What is hydration?
The fluid traveling through your blood vessels carry essential nutrient to your cells and clear away the metabolic waste. When your fluid level is low, you are considered dehydrated, and blood pressure tends to drop. You blood flow is reduced and it takes longer for your body tissues to get what they need. As a result, your organs function inefficiently or can even sustain damage.
How do I know if I am dehydrated?
You can become dehydrated without realizing it especially if you’re a busy or active individual. Studies show about half of us are walking around low on fluids. You’re even more likely to become dehydrated when you are sick or exercising. You may not notice anything, or you may experience symptoms such as fatigue, headache, nausea, dizziness, or foggy brain. The good news, all these symptoms will immediately be reversed with IV hydration.
How long will IV Drip take?
Signature formulations are usually in 250 ml of IV fluids and take only about 20 or 30 minutes to complete. These “Quick Drips” are designed for convenience and do not provided significant hydration. For added hydration, the nutrients can be delivered as a “Full Drip” in 500 ml or 1000 ml of volume which will take 50 minutes or more.
How often should I get an IV?
Everyone’s nutritional needs are individual based upon factors like genetics, diet, gut health, and activity. Many people get IV drips every couple of weeks regularly to maintain optimal function getting the most out of every day. Others choose to come in for a drip only when you feel off or starting to get symptoms. Weekly treatments are recommended while you are under physical or emotional stress or recovering from such.
What will I experience?
You might feel a small momentary pinch as the IV catheter is placed in your arm. You won’t usually notice any pain at all while receiving the drip itself. Instead you’ll be kicking back in a recliner watching TV, texting your friends, or listening to relaxing music. Once the drip is complete, the catheter is removed painlessly, and you are on your way.
Can I just get my nutrients by mouth?
Depending on the nutrient, its abundance in your food, the acidic environment of our stomach, and health of your gut lining, absorption of nutrients taken by mouth is unpredictable. Everything goes through the liver ‘first pass’ which changes, eliminates, or metabolizes it before release into the blood stream. As a result, 50% or less of what we eat may eventually make it to our tissues. In contrast, nutrients going directly into your bloodstream are 100% available immediately to your cells.
